Firstly, I've been to Four Ring Spares again buying bits of other cars - these
gas struts are from a rather mangled white Quattro Turbo.
So much more reassuring than that little metal stick when your head's under the
bonnet!
Also I've got the door panels back from my dad's mate - I've only fitted the
passenger side one so far but I think it looks fantastic.
Steve got on with sorting the hole in the drivers side sill...
while I amused myself by removing the sunroof - mainly to get to the rust at
each corner but I've decided to fix the sunroof in place and fill in the seal
around it. The mechanism's a bit corroded and likes to stick (the handle
shattered today when I tried to turn it!), all four corners are suffering from
rust. Sealing it will help with the rust and prevent any more water entering the
drains through the roof area, which is good. Plus I've never used the sunroof in
any of the cars I've had, anyway.
