Firstly, A milestone has been reached in this mammoth project! The welding on the sills is complete.

After some sterling work by Steve a couple of nights ago, by 500w lamp, in adverse weather conditions

most of the hole was patched

Then today Bruce (who lent me the welding gear - cheers mate!) came round and finished off the last bits for me.
I forgot to take a picture before I painted the sill with protective stuff, so it's not a good one - more later when it dries!

I started removing the plastic and glue left behind when I removed the rubbing strips.

I sanded this bit by hand and it took me an hour...

So I used the belt sander on the rest and did the last bit by hand.
Strangely, bare metal, filler, rust and things like that don't worry me half as much as they used to!

As you can see I've also removed the drivers door handle to sort out the rust underneath it - about time!
I'm beginning to think that the driver's door is made from filler - it's obviously had a ding there at some point

I also sorted out the horn, which has never worked since I bought the car. And tested the new foglights, blowing several fuses in the process. Doh!

Finally, in continuation of the Great Sunroof Experiment, I applied a layer of filler. Time will tell on this one - I hope I can get it looking right - much sanding to do here!

So, apart from the brakes (new brake pipes needed, definitely), we're nearly at MOT stage - hooray!
